Sesquicentennial Celebration

designed for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sacramento, CA, these logos provide two iterations of the same design with one in latin and one in english. the logos were made for the church’s 150th anniversary celebration. the latin version hints to both their past and the religion’s past, while the one in english looks at the present and future.

the color red was chosen because it is the liturgical color used for the celebration of the reformation in the lutheran church.

sesquicentennial campaign

as part of their 150th anniversary, St. John’s Lutheran Church embarked on a sesquicentennial fundraising campaign to raise funds for a gift to the church for the future. the intended gift was four new stained glass windows for the sanctuary. to the right are the series of logos designed for the fundraising campaign. each features sketches of scenes from the renderings of the windows - the chalice and grapes with the cross, the baptismal font with the cross, and the red accents with the luther rose.

seasonal themes

every year, st. john’s lutheran church developed a theme for their stewardship, advent, and lent seasons. these themes referenced the central message of the season, which was emphasized each week in service. for each of these seasons, graphics and logos were created to tie the theme into all aspects of life at the church. some of the seasons had variations of the logo for each week.
